Fast Inductance Calculation for Finite Length Coil with Circular Cross Section

This study presents a fast and efficient method for calculating the inductance of a finite-length coil. The magnetic flux through each turn is efficiently calculated numerically using elliptic integrals. The total magnetic flux through all turns was obtained by summing these individual fluxes. Finally, the self-inductance was calculated using a fast-resulting method by equating this total flux to the product of the self-inductance and the current.

Abstract

This study presents a fast and efficient method for calculating the inductance of a finite-length coil. The magnetic flux through each turn is efficiently calculated numerically using elliptic integrals. The total magnetic flux through all turns was obtained by summing these individual fluxes. Finally, the self-inductance was calculated using a fast-resulting method by equating this total flux to the product of the self-inductance and the current.
