Alcubierre bubble average speed

The possibility of superluminal motion via an Alcubierre warp drive is examined in this study. It is shown that conclusions regarding superluminal motion depend on the convention chosen for simultaneity and distance measurement. The average speed of the journey, as measured using the radar convention, does not exceed the speed of light. Nevertheless, faster-than-light travel remains possible within the Fermi framework. For certain choices of parameters, superluminal motion is observed in the reference frames of both the ship and the destination port.

Abstract

The possibility of superluminal motion via an Alcubierre warp drive is examined in this study. It is shown that conclusions regarding superluminal motion depend on the convention chosen for simultaneity and distance measurement. The average speed of the journey, as measured using the radar convention, does not exceed the speed of light. Nevertheless, faster-than-light travel remains possible within the Fermi framework. For certain choices of parameters, superluminal motion is observed in the reference frames of both the ship and the destination port.
