Accurate prediction of mechanical stress evolution is crucial for understanding failure mechanisms in nickel‐rich NCM cathodes. This study develops an experimentally validated and theoretically justified model that effectively simulates electrode‐scale stress by simplifying anisotropic single‐crystal particles into isotropic spherical particles. The model provides a reliable tool for linking macroscopic stress signals to battery internal states. More details are discussed in the article by Tan et al . on pages 1506—1514. image

Abstract

Accurate prediction of mechanical stress evolution is crucial for understanding failure mechanisms in nickel‐rich NCM cathodes. This study develops an experimentally validated and theoretically justified model that effectively simulates electrode‐scale stress by simplifying anisotropic single‐crystal particles into isotropic spherical particles. The model provides a reliable tool for linking macroscopic stress signals to battery internal states. More details are discussed in the article by Tan et al . on pages 1506—1514. image
