Advanced Decoupling Current Control with Uncertainty and Disturbance Estimation

This study proposes a disturbance-rejecting complex decoupling control (DR-CDC) method to improve the current control performance of permanent magnet synchronous motors. Conventional model-based complex decoupling approaches are highly sensitive to parameter mismatches, and disturbance-based methods typically treat cross-axis coupling effects as lumped disturbances and fail to explicitly isolate and suppress them, degrading transient performance under dynamic operating conditions. These limitations are addressed in this study by integrating the proposed controller into a feedback-based complex decoupling structure with a disturbance estimator. The integration effectively compensates for parameter uncertainties and nonlinear voltage distortions while preserving the structural decoupling of the current dynamics. Explicitly suppressing cross-coupling voltage components allows the proposed DR-CDC to achieve faster current response and improved robustness compared with conventional model-based and disturbance-based current control schemes. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by frequency-domain analysis and comprehensive time-domain simulations and experiments conducted under various parameter error conditions.
