New records for the flora of Colombia: Baskervilla auriculata Garay, Brassia whewellii J.M.H.Shaw, and Epidendrum pucunoense Hágsater & Dodson (Orchidaceae, Epidendroideae)
The Andean-Amazonian Foothills is a biodiverse ecotone threatened by legal and illegal anthropogenic activities. We report for the first time three orchid species from this ecotone in Colombia. We propose that Baskervilla auriculata Garay and Brassia whewellii J.M.H.Shaw each have a has a conservation status of Least Concern, and that Epidendrum pucunoense Hágsater & Dodson is Vulnerable. We propose that all three species are Critically Endangered in Colombia, as each species is known from only a single population and each location exhibits habitat degradation. Our findings highlight the local biodiversity and the need for its conservation.
