A Dual‐Axis Structure Self‐Powered Wind Direction Monitoring Piezoelectric–Electromagnetic Hybrid Energy Harvester

This article presents a dual‐axis structure self‐powered wind direction‐monitoring piezoelectric–electromagnetic hybrid energy harvester (DA‐PEH), the DA‐PEH combines piezoelectric–electromagnetic harvester modules through a biaxial structure. Using a combination of mechanisms can be a good combination of wind energy collection and wind direction monitoring, enabling more efficient use of wind energy. The piezoelectric harvester module converts rotational motion into linear motion through magnetic excitation, improving the collection efficiency. An electromagnetic harvester module is used for real‐time monitoring of wind direction by means of a rotor combined with a copper coil. Electromagnetic harvester module with rotor and copper coils is used for real‐time wind direction monitoring. In this article, by using a biaxial structure to couple the piezoelectric and electromagnetic parts together, the operating frequency band of the energy harvesting device is effectively improved. DA‐PEH outputs a voltage of 91.56 V at a wind speed of 10 m/s. The optimal output power is 11.64 mW. The piezoelectric harvester module is capable of powering 66 LEDs and can power a temperature and humidity sensor. Electromagnetic harvester module enables wind direction monitoring. The research in this article can provide new ideas for wind energy collection and environmental monitoring.
