Enhancing industrial Wastewater Quality by using PVDF Hollow Fiber Membrane
Sugar factory wastewater often contains harmful contaminants like COD, TSS, BOD, TDS Turbidity, etc. that pollute the environment and threaten public health if discharged unfiltered. Conventional filtration systems such as sand, carbon, or UV filters are limited in removing fine particles and microorganisms, and they require high maintenance. This project focuses on improving wastewater quality of sugar factory using a PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) Hollow Fiber Membrane filtration system. PVDF is selected for its excellent mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and antifouling properties. The hollow fiber structure allows high surface area for filtration, providing greater efficiency with low energy consumption and minimal chemical use. The project involves design, fabrication, and testing of a laboratory scale setup to treat industrial wastewater under varying conditions of pressure, flow rate, and contamination levels. Expected outcomes include enhanced water purity, reduced suspended solids, and improved understanding of PVDF membrane performance. This study contributes to the development of a sustainable and efficient water purification system suitable for industrial applications.
