Experimental measurement of energy density and loss factor analysis for composite laminates based on EFEA-PSO
This study introduces an advanced approach for evaluating energy density and damping loss factor identification of composite laminates. First, Energy Finite Element Analysis (EFEA) is utilized for numerical calculations, with its accuracy verified against analytical solutions. Then, a novel experimental testing method is proposed, combining Classical Laminated Plate Theory (CLPT) with the finite difference method to enable accurate energy density calculations at target locations using data acquired from an eight-accelerometer sensor array. The damping loss factor of the laminates is experimentally determined via the Power Input Method (PIM), and subsequent adjustments are made to the EFEA results to enhance agreement with the experimental data. Furthermore, the EFEA-PSO technique is applied to identify the damping loss factor of composite laminated plates. The results demonstrate excellent convergence between the corrected numerical predictions and experimental measurements, particularly in the mid-to-high frequency range, thereby validating the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed framework.
