A Review on the Recent Advances in KBiFe 2 O 5 Synthesis and Its Functionality in Photocatalytic Wastewater Remediation
ABSTRACT Contaminants in wastewater threaten the well‐being of human beings and the survival of aquatic organisms. Dyes, a major contaminant of wastewater, not only pose health risks for human or aquatic life but are also responsible for soil degradation and climate change. Photocatalysis, with its ability to function at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, and its affordability and accessibility, presents significant advantages in effectively addressing dye contamination in wastewater. An analysis of existing studies underscores the effectiveness of KBiFe 2 O 5 as a photocatalyst for treating dye‐contaminated wastewater. This review focuses on the various preparation methods of KBiFe 2 O 5 , its morphologies, and comprehensively examines its advancement in photocatalytic degradation of industrial wastewater. Several potential approaches for preparing KBiFe 2 O 5 , like the sol‐gel method, hydrothermal method, citrate combustion technique, and solid‐state reaction route, are discussed along with their subsequent effects on structure, other morphological parameters, and photocatalytic degradation efficiency. A comprehensive overview of various characterizations, like XRD, SEM images, and Band‐gap variation, is also presented in this study. The article concludes by providing insight into multiple parameters that affect the dye degradation mechanism of KBiFe 2 O 5 .
