Fabrication of flexible PAN-CuFe2O4 nanofiber and the property of photo-Fenton photocatalytic degradation

The removal of organic pollutants from wastewater remains a significant environmental challenge, with current methods often limited by low efficiency and poor recyclability. To address these issues, we developed a recyclable CuFe 2 O 4 supported PAN nanofiber composite via electrospinning and solvothermal synthesis. Characterization results confirmed that this design allows for the effective immobilization of CuFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles, enhancing both the surface area and photocatalytic performance. The composite demonstrated excellent photocatalytic performance, achieving 98.17% degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) in 50 min under visible light. The catalyst exhibited high durability and superior recyclability, maintaining stable performance after five cycles of use. Additionally, it showed broad applicability, maintaining effective degradation across different pH values and RhB concentrations. This work highlights the potential of PAN supported CuFe 2 O 4 composites as efficient, recyclable photocatalysts for wastewater treatment, offering a promising strategy for the development of sustainable environmental remediation technologies. • The flexible PAN-CuFe 2 O 4 photocatalyst film addresses the issue of CuFe 2 O 4 agglomeration, thereby increasing the material's specific surface area and facilitating easier recovery of the material. • The material is prepared via electrospinning and solvothermal methods, featuring low preparation cost and low difficulty. • The degradation process is facilitated by •OH radical species, and the catalyst exhibits good degradation efficiency and applicability. • After cyclic testing, the material maintains stable chemical and physical structures and exhibits good reusability. • This study provides an idea for the treatment of organic pollutants.
