A Deep Ecological Perspective: Challenging Anthropocentric Views in Camp Zero and The Deluge
This chapter examines with a deep ecological lens to analyze how Michelle Min Sterling's Camp Zero( 2023) and Stephen Markley's The Deluge(2023) critiques anthropocentric ideologies amid ecological collapse. It analyses the novels depictions of technocratic enclaves, social inequalities, and the intrinsic value of the non-human world, revealing how human exceptionalism perpetuates environmental devastation and moral decay. Through textual analysis, the discussion highlights the novels rejection of redemptive narratives, emphasizing ethical humility and coexistence in the Anthropocene.
