ADAPTIVE BRAKE INTEGRITY MONITORING AND INSTATANEOUS SECONDARY RESPONSE UNIT & HEIGHT FILTERED OBSTACLE SENSING
Road accidents and vehicle damage often result from two major issues: unexpected brake failure and undetected road obstacles that exceed vehicle ground clearance. This project proposes an integrated safety system that combines real-time brake failure detection with an intelligent underbody obstacle sensing mechanism to enhance overall vehicle safety. Brake failure is one of the most critical causes of road accidents, often resulting from hydraulic fluid leakage, mechanical wear, or component malfunction. To address this issue, this project proposes an intelligent sensor-based secondary braking system that continuously monitors the performance of the primary braking mechanism. The system employs electronic sensors to detect key parameters such as brake pressure, pedal response, and braking effectiveness. When the driver applies the brake pedal and the primary braking system fails to produce the expected deceleration, the sensors immediately identify the anomaly and transmit signals to a microcontroller. Based on this real-time data analysis, the control unit automatically activates a secondary braking mechanism without driver intervention. The proposed system ensures rapid response and enhanced vehicle safety by applying auxiliary braking force to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. Simultaneously, visual and audio alerts such as red warning lights and buzzer signals are triggered to notify nearby vehicles and pedestrians. This approach integrates redundancy and automation, improving reliability and minimizing accident risks. Such systems are aligned with modern automotive safety technologies where sensors and control units enable automatic braking actions during critical situations, thereby reducing human dependency and enhancing response time Element14 India Additionally, the concept of activating a secondary braking system when the primary system fails is widely recognized as an effective safety enhancement in vehicle design. Damage to a vehicle's underbody and engine components often occurs due to low-visibility road obstacles that exceed the ground clearance of the vehicle. To address this problem, this project proposes a ground-level ultrasonic sensing system designed to intelligently detect hazardous obstacles based on their height relative to the vehicle's base. In this system, an ultrasonic sensor is mounted beneath the front section of the vehicle at a height equal to the ground clearance. The sensor continuously emits ultrasonic waves parallel to the road surface to monitor objects ahead. When an obstacle enters the sensing range, the system evaluates whether its height exceeds the vehicle's ground clearance threshold. If the detected object is higher than the permissible limit, indicating a potential risk to the vehicle's underbody or engine, the sensor transmits signals to a control unit that immediately alerts the driver through visual indicators such as a red warning light and audible alerts like a buzzer. Conversely, if the detected object is below the ground clearance level, the system intelligently ignores it, preventing unnecessary warnings and ensuring smoother driving. This selective detection approach enhances system efficiency while reducing false alerts. The proposed system improves vehicle safety by providing early warnings of dangerous obstacles, thereby preventing mechanical damage and reducing the likelihood of accidents. It offers a simple, cost-effective, and reliable solution that can be integrated into modern vehicles to enhance driver awareness and protect critical components from road hazards.
