Integrative proteomics and metabolomics for biochemical and immunological insights

Abstract BACKGROUND: Ayurveda uses polyherbal formulations and natural derivatives to promote health by balancing Doshas and Dhatus . However, the biochemical validation of these drugs is still limited. Proteomics and metabolomics can analyze the molecular interactions and mechanisms behind Ayurvedic therapies, aiding their scientific validation and integration into modern healthcare practices. WAY FORWARD: It emphasizes the study of Rasayana drugs, anti-inflammatory agents, and adaptogens by categorizing their effects based on biochemical, serological, and immunological parameters. Collaboration with leading research institutes should be pursued to facilitate advanced multi-omics on Ayurvedic formulations. Furthermore, creating comprehensive databases to compile proteomic and metabolomic signatures of commonly used Ayurvedic drugs will establish a valuable resource for advancing research and ensuring scientific validation. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: The study will provide a thorough understanding of the biochemical and immunological impact associated with Ayurvedic drugs. Identifying specific proteins and metabolites influenced by these treatments is also essential. Lastly, adopting a systematic approach to determining the pharmacokinetic pathways involved in various Ayurvedic drugs, such as Guduchi , Haridra , and Triphala , while integrating proteomics and metabolomics with Ayurveda, can significantly enhance the global acceptance and application of these drugs.
