Observation of Nipah Virus Evolution Using the ATG Genomic Walks

In this paper, 32 complete genomic sequences of human-origin Nipah viruses registered in GenBank® from 1999 to 2025 are analyzed by tracking distributions of ATG triplets. The trajectories of these triplets are constructed, and their divergence parameter is calculated, revealing an increased value typical of highly mutated viruses that can form separate families with distinct properties. This conclusion aligns with the large deviation observed in the fractal dimension parameters of the distribution of inter-ATG-triplet distances in genomic sequences. The simulation results are compared with earlier data for SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV, dengue, and Ebola viruses.
