Bead-equipped surface-mount light-emitting-diode light source with optical collimation
The application of secondary optical methods in precision light-emitting-diode (LED)-based products is limited by cost-related or structural challenges. Enhancing the primary optical structure of the package represents a critical direction, serving as a cost-effective research and development approach. In this study, imaging and illumination optics theories were integrated to develop and validate an economical alternative bead-equipped optical collimation solution, with an emitting aperture of less than 3 mm, for surface-mounted LED light sources. Furthermore, we performed fabrication and testing of two products based on this design, a single-beam traffic light source and a dual-beam showcase light source.
