Study on the Performance of a Novel Microbial-Assisted Chemical Viscosity Reduction Technology for Enhancing Heavy Oil Displacement Efficiency
mN/m with crude oil, leading to an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) enhancement of 22-26%. The underlying mechanism is that viscosity-reducing bacteria degrade asphaltene in heavy oil, thereby weakening intermolecular forces. Their metabolites enhance the emulsion stability of the chemical viscosity reduction process. Chemical viscosity reducers enhance the physiological cycle and metabolic activity of microorganisms while also emulsifying and dispersing heavy oil and improving emulsion stability. Therefore, this novel microbial-assisted chemical viscosity reduction technology offers a new and effective EOR method for high-viscosity reservoirs.
