Remimazolam Versus Propofol for General Anesthesia in Older Adults Undergoing Colon Cancer Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Comparative Studies
Remimazolam provides anesthetic efficacy comparable to propofol in colon cancer surgery while offering modest, but clinically meaningful improvements in intraoperative hemodynamic stability. Recovery times, opioid requirements, and adverse-event rates were similar between agents. Remimazolam may be particularly advantageous for elderly or hemodynamically vulnerable patients undergoing major colorectal procedures. Larger, high-quality trials are warranted to clarify long-term and oncologic outcomes.
