Abstract

Child and adolescent mental health has transformed into a global issue, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.Cases of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, selfharm, and internet and gaming overuse have been increasingly reported worldwide, and school closures, social isolation, family conflict, and economic instability have been interacting in complex ways.Furthermore, intensifying socio-political polarization and a dynamic digital environment have exacerbated concerns regarding the long-term impact of the above mentioned issues on brain development and identity formation during a person's growth period.Worldwide, child and adolescent mental health services show severe disparities in accessibility and equity. There persists an acute shortage of specialists and community-based services relative to demand-not only in low-and middle-income countries but also in high-income countries.Although digital mental health interventions offer new possibilities, the accumulation of evidence, protection of personal data, and the digital divide remain unresolved challenges. In this context, research on child and adolescent mental health must be diverse. We need to explore the historical development of concepts of disorders that experts may have assumed they understood well, reconsider the biological pathophysiology of clinical conditions, and continue to pursue integrated approaches to schools, communities, and digital environments. All of these are intimately related to child and adolescent mental health. From this perspective, these articles are characterized by the simultaneous pursuit of both theoretical perspectives and practical solutions."Relationship of Serum Tricellulin, MarvelD3, and Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha Levels With Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Severity in Children and Adolescents" [1] demonstrates the need to investigate inflammatory responses and the brain-gut axis in the pathophysiology of obsessive-compulsive disorder in children and adolescents, and suggests
