Dynamic Membrane Elasticity (DME): Global and Radial Tests of Galaxy Rotation Curves with a Fixed Universal Parameter Set
This work presents the version 5 observational evaluation of the Dynamic Membrane Elasticity (DME) framework using 26 galaxy rotation curves from the SPARC database. The sample comprises seven massive galaxies, eight galaxies in an Ursa Major environmental subsample, and eleven gas-rich/low-surface-brightness systems. A single fixed parameter set (κ₀ = 1, r₀ = 5 kpc, Υd = 0.5, Υb = 0.7) is applied to the complete sample without galaxy-by-galaxy parameter optimisation. Model behaviour is evaluated through total χ², signed velocity residuals, inverse-variance-weighted regional quantities, and two complementary radial-partitioning schemes. DME produces a lower total χ² than the Newtonian baryonic baseline in 22 of 26 galaxies (84.6%). The mean galaxy-level total χ² decreases from 10,679.33 to 5,617.81, corresponding to an aggregate reduction of 47.40%, while the mean galaxy-by-galaxy improvement is 19.76%. Substantial residuals nevertheless remain in several systems, demonstrating that relative improvement does not imply absolute statistical adequacy. The accompanying spreadsheet workbook contains the SPARC observational inputs, point-by-point DME calculations, global and regional statistics, residual analyses, robustness controls, and graphical diagnostics used to reproduce the reported results. The present results establish a reproducible phenomenological response under a common fixed prescription but do not demonstrate the fundamental physical interpretation of DME, an environmental contribution to κ, or superiority over established galaxy-dynamics models
