Acute stress induces coordinated reorganization across interacting brain networks
This study reveals significant reductions in functional connectivity among several large-scale brain networks during stress. Reduced connectivity was observed within central autonomic, sensorimotor, default, salience, and executive networks in alpha (8-13 Hz), beta (13-30 Hz), and high gamma (80-120) bands, including reduced connectivity between the right medial prefrontal cortex and the brainstem.
