The role of pre-operative sit-to-stand assessment in robotic hysterectomy surgical outcomes: An observational cohort study
Objective: We aimed to investigate the utility of the validated frailty sit-to-stand (STS) measure preoperatively as a predictor of postoperative outcomes after robotic hysterectomy (RH). Methods: This was a prospective, observational study of adult women who underwent a RH within our institution from 01/2022 to 06/2023 by a gynecologic oncologist. A 30 s STS was performed preoperatively, and patients were categorized as above or below average performers by age. Comparative statistics were employed. A multivariable Firth's logistic regression model evaluated a composite primary outcome of complication, re-operation, or readmission. Results: = 0.002). Conclusions: A below average STS assessment was predictive of a worse composite outcome of complication, re-operation, and readmission. Preoperative STS assessment may be a quick, effective tool to help risk-stratify, inform treatment planning and aid in risk discussion.
