Retinoic acid at the crossroads of reproduction and sleep: an underexplored link with clinical implications
Retinoic acid, a vitamin A derivative widely used in dermatology, plays essential roles in female and male reproductive physiology and in the regulation of circadian rhythms. Emerging evidence suggests that chronic exposure to systemic retinoids, such as isotretinoin, may influence fertility parameters and sleep-reproductive interactions, highlighting the need for greater clinical awareness and longitudinal safety studies.
