REDUCTION FACTOR OF STEEL BAR-TIMBER COMPOSITE COLUMN SUBJECTED TO COMPRESSION FORCE

The compressive strength capacity of column composed of steel bar and timber and its estimation method were clarified through experiments and calculations. i: The compressive strength capacity of the experimental cross-section columns can be estimated by multiplying the compressive strength of the short column by the reduction factor for timber column design. ii: The compressive strength capacity of columns within the range of inelastic buckling can be estimated numerically by assuming a hinged region. iii: The numerical calculation clarified the influence of rebar position and quantity on the reduction factor, leading to the proposal of a modified design formula.

Abstract

The compressive strength capacity of column composed of steel bar and timber and its estimation method were clarified through experiments and calculations. i: The compressive strength capacity of the experimental cross-section columns can be estimated by multiplying the compressive strength of the short column by the reduction factor for timber column design. ii: The compressive strength capacity of columns within the range of inelastic buckling can be estimated numerically by assuming a hinged region. iii: The numerical calculation clarified the influence of rebar position and quantity on the reduction factor, leading to the proposal of a modified design formula.
