AGRO-TEXTILES' SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO AGRICULTURAL USES

For thousands of years, the agricultural industry has employed agro-textiles, which are a visually appealing method of protecting crops throughout their whole life cycle. Among the technical textile sectors, it is one that is expanding. "Agro-textile" is the term used to describe technical fabrics used for agricultural purposes. India is the world's largest producer, consumer, and exporter of agro-textiles. The agro-technological application area determines the choice of fibres for agro-textiles. Fibres such as hemp, sisal, jute, and coir are used extensively in agro-textiles. Agro-textiles such as mulch mats, bird nets, sunscreen, harvesting nets, hail protection nets, and windscreens are becoming more and more popular these days. In essence, agro-textiles encompass various industries, including horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and more. Regardless of the climate, the use of agro-textile goods has produced a wide range of favourable results and has a beneficial effect on the growth and production of different crops and vegetables. This paper's primary goal is to provide an overview, highlight the significance of agrotextiles, their functions and products and highlight their future prospects.
