A Low SAR ISM and 5G Dual‐Band Implantable Antenna for Endoscopy

ABSTRACT A miniature implantable antenna designed for real‐time medical ulcer monitoring inside a living person's body is presented in this work. It operates well at 2.45 GHz and 3.7 GHz dual‐band CP operation using a Roger 6010 substrate. It works in tandem with the ISM and 5G bands for medical sensing and data transmission applications. With a radius of 4.5 mm and a thickness of 0.324 mm, the antenna is incredibly small, easy to implant, and highly effective at the biological interface. With return losses of −19 dB and −15 dB for frequencies of 2.45 GHz and 3.7 GHz, respectively, the antenna is extremely sensitive by design. Low signal reflection and efficient impedance matching are required for precise data transfer. The antenna can achieve a gain of −33.27 dB and −16.44 dB for 2.45 GHz and 3.7 GHz, respectively, which is sufficient for localized data transfer even though it will be exposed to the lossy biological medium. The antenna modeling is validated by experiment findings. Testing with USRP shows a 13 m transmission range, for biotelemetry with 2‐Mbps data rate and BPSK modulation. The circular polarized antenna is very effective as an implantable ulcer monitoring solution. It offers reliable performance for precise, steady monitoring inside the human body.
