Acoustical Analysis of Polyvinyl Alcohol Solutions: The Role of Temperature and Solvent Change

ABSTRACT The development of polymer blends with improved miscibility and enhanced electrochemical properties is crucial for advanced applications in flexible electronics, membranes, and sensors. However, achieving stable structural compatibility and desirable conductivity in polymer systems remains a significant challenge, particularly in varying temperature and solvent conditions. In the present investigations, the miscibility, structural behavior, and electrical properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with cross‐linked boric acid (BA) in two different solvents: double‐distilled water (DD water) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) have been investigated. Ultrasonic technique was used to measure ultrasonic velocity, density, and viscosity over a temperature range of 303–338 K at a fixed frequency of 5 MHz. The acoustical parameters, including adiabatic compressibility (β), free length (L f ), acoustic impedance (Z), relaxation time (τ), and Ultrasonic attenuation, have been estimated by using calculated data. The solution‐cast technique was used for making solid‐state blend films in order to analyse their structural and electrochemical characteristics. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was utilized to examine the chemical compatibility, and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was applied to evaluate the electrical performance of the polymer blend. The combination of ultrasonic and spectroscopic techniques offers a deep understanding of the polymer‐solvent interactions and the influence of temperature and medium on blend behavior. This information is used to develop a new system with the desired properties and advanced applications.
