Cardiovascular disease in China: epidemiological features and changing trends
<p indent="0mm">Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in China. Due to population aging, accelerated urbanization, and changes in lifestyle, the overall burden of cardiovascular disease continues to increase. Although progress has been made in the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease in recent years, with age-standardized cardiovascular disease burden showing a declining trend, we still face major challenges, including shifts in the disease spectrum, disparities in health status between urban and rural areas and among regions, and the high prevalence of cardiometabolic multimorbidity. Moreover, the current management status of risk factors urgently needs to be improved. Prevention and control remain challenging. This study systematically reviewed the epidemiological features and changing trends of cardiovascular diseases and their major risk factors in China, and proposes directions for optimizing the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases in the future, with the aim of providing scientific evidence for the development of more effective strategies.
