Study on the Influence of Hydroxyapatite on Human Cell Viability and Adhesion in Chemical Antibacterial Silver Coatings
: The experimental study offers insights into the potential cytotoxic effects of silver in antibacterial coatings. Co-deposition with hydroxyapatite improved osteoblast viability compared to surfaces coated with silver alone, indicating that it may have a beneficial effect in Ag-based surface functionalization. The underlying mechanism (e.g., modulation of silver species/ion release) was not directly quantified in this work and should be addressed in future studies.
