Open repair after failed endovascular treatment of a visceral arterial aneurysm: The Mattox maneuver
Visceral arteries aneurysms are not common, and evidence regarding multilayer flow modulator stents remains limited. We present the case of a 48-year-old man with aneurysm sac enlargement of a visceral arterial aneurysm arising from a common trunk for the celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery, previously treated in another institution with a multilayer flow modulator stent. Open repair was performed, including stent explantation and anatomical reconstruction with a venous bypass. The Mattox maneuver proved to be an effective approach for open repair of the visceral arteries.
