A Reconfigurable Broadband Band‐Absorptive Frequency‐Selective Absorber with High Oblique Incidence Stability Based on Bilayer Miura‐Ori Structure

ABSTRACT With the advancement of electromagnetic (EM) detection and stealth technologies, communication platforms now face dual requirements for high wave transmission and broadband stealth performance. The frequency selective rasorber (FSR), which combines passband transmission and broadband absorption capabilities, has demonstrated significant application potential in this field, and a critical challenge in FSR research lies in achieving efficient wide‐angle wave transmission and absorption performance simultaneously. However, both planar and 3D absorbers face challenges in maintaining efficient transmission and absorption performance across wide incident angles. This paper proposes a bilayer Miura‐ori structure that achieves low‐frequency low‐insertion‐loss transmission combined with broadband absorption characteristics, realizing a low‐frequency transmission/high‐frequency absorption functionality across large angular ranges. The top origami layer incorporates resistive film absorbers while the bottom layer features etched circular loops. This origami configuration enables continuous (rather than discrete) state reconfiguration, facilitating optimal selection of folded configurations that maximize absorption/transmission efficiency within targeted frequency bands. The proposed Miura‐ori FSR sample was fabricated and measured. The measurement results indicate that the proposed FSR exhibits a low‐pass band (|S 21 | ≥ –1 dB) across a wide incidence angle range of 0° to 60°and within the frequency range under 620 MHz in TE waves and 680 MHz in TM waves. Furthermore, it achieves a maximum wide absorption bandwidth of 178% between 1.53 GHz and 25 GHz in TE waves and 153% between 3.27 and 25 GHz in TM waves, meeting both |S 11 | ≤ –10 dB and |S 21 | ≤ –10 dB criteria.
