Finite element and numerical analysis of heat transfer in sandwich cylindrical pipes

This study establishes a heat transfer model for a three-layer infinitely long cylindrical pipe. Using numerical calculation and finite element simulation methods, it systematically investigates the influence of different thermal conductivity materials in the intermediate layer and the geometric characteristics of the pipe on the temperature distribution across each layer. The accuracy of the numerical calculation model for a single-layer pipe is verified using AMESim software. The results indicate that the different thermal conductivity materials of the mid layer have a certain influence on the temperature of each layer. When the mid layer is made of thermally conductive material, the change of geometric parameters has a greater effect on the temperature of the inner and mid layer walls and a smaller effect on the temperature of the outer layer walls. This study can provide a theoretical basis for the application of using different materials according to the temperature of layer wall in low-flow, low-capacity, low-temperature pipes.
