Robotic Surgery: The Future of Dental Implantology?
This is a detailed case report from a recent clinical residency in Hong Kong with the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR). The evidence-based surgical principles and protocols of the use of robotic surgery in the future of dental implantology are discussed, focusing on the rationale for its use, the risks and decision making involved during the clinical procedure, and the requirement for the team approach in robotic dental implantology. The impact of robotic surgery has not yet fully impacted the UK, and this case study highlights how its application can enhance surgery by offering tremor-free precision, reducing errors in osteotomies and placements. CPD/Clinical Relevance: By looking at how other countries are adopting technology into their dental implant workflow, UK dental implantologists can expand their own skills and knowledge.
