Sustainability: not my Business
While sustainability is increasingly framed as a driver of innovation in advanced biomaterials and dental implants, little is known about how these ambitions translate into clinical practice. Dentists play a central role in selecting implant materials, yet their awareness of supply-chain characteristics and sustainability implications remains underexplored. This article examines the disconnect between sustainability-oriented research and innovation in the dental implant industry and the everyday decision-making of dental professionals. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Dental professionals play a crucial role in the selection of implant systems and materials, therefore must be aware of their environmental impact and sustainability.
