RELATIONAL-STRUCTURAL THEORY: COLLECTED PAPERS

Editorial Preface: Structure of the Collected Work This volume collects eight interconnected papers comprising a complete statement of the relational-structural theory of consciousness and its extensions into physics. Each paper was written to stand alone, but together they form a continuous argument moving from foundational ontology through biological embodiment, synthetic implementation, the nature of qualia, temporal direction, quantum measurement, and the interpretation of fundamental physical constants. Part I derives consciousness from a single ontological primitive — minimal distinction within a unified relational totality — and proposes the central equation R = O · Ψ · ΔE. Part II grounds that abstract framework in the biology of the human brain, showing how cerebral blood flow constitutes the thermodynamic infrastructure (ΔE) without which the conscious regime cannot be sustained. Part III asks what an engineered system would require to instantiate the same regime, developing the thermodynamic self-regulation criterion and the synthetic coherence metric αs. Part IV advances a definite answer to the hard problem of qualia, arguing that phenomenal experience is the first-person aspect of self-aware consequence-tracking under self-preservation salience. Part V grounds temporal direction in ordered dependency rather than thermodynamics alone, treating the arrow of time as an emergent property of asymmetric causal chains. Part VI addresses the measurement problem in quantum mechanics, reinterpreting wavefunction collapse as the dereference of shared pointer relations by bounded observers. Part VII reframes dimensionless physical constants as frozen ratios of relational formation rather than brute external inputs. Part VIII extends that reinterpretation to the gravitational constant G. Taken together, the papers develop a unified vocabulary for physics, biology, consciousness studies, and philosophy of mind, grounded in structural ontology and generating testable empirical predictions. The central equation R = O · Ψ · ΔE runs throughout as the binding thread.
