Importance of scar care post wound healing: evidence from two case studies
This article presents two case studies that emphasise the significance of scar care and the critical role of wound care competencies in direct patient care, as well as in educating patients and carers during the scar healing process. Both patients, under the author's care as a scar specialist with surgical team approval, underwent different procedures: a caesarean section and a hip replacement. These case studies illustrate the unique challenges associated with scars from varying surgical interventions and demonstrate how targeted scar care and education can positively impact recovery and quality of life.
