Surgical Reconstruction of Ulcers in Chronic Granulomatous Disease
Summary: Chronic granulomatous disease can affect multiple organ systems and is associated with poor wound healing, which may preclude a patient from undergoing a bone marrow transplant. We present a patient with chronic granulomatous disease and extensive nonhealing full-thickness wounds who was successfully treated surgically with split-thickness skin grafts and spray-on autologous skin cell suspension. This treatment paradigm may be useful for other patients with immunologic dysfunction and chronic wounds.
