Comparative evaluation of crestal bone height in immediately loaded implants using flap and flapless techniques: A clinical study

Objectives: To compare crestal bone height changes around immediately loaded implants placed using flap and flapless surgical techniques. Methods: Eight patients received two implants each using flap and flapless approaches. Crestal bone height was measured at baseline, one month, and three months using digital periapical radiographs. Statistical analysis was performed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: Significantly greater crestal bone loss was observed in the flap group compared to the flapless group at all time intervals (p < 0.05). Flapless surgery demonstrated better bone preservation during early healing. Conclusions: Flapless implant placement results in reduced crestal bone loss compared to flap surgery and may be preferred for immediate loading protocols.
