SMART BATTERY EJECTION FOR EXPLOSION PREVENTION IN VEHICLES

The rapid growth and widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) have significantly increased the importance of battery safety, as high-capacity lithium-ion batteries are prone to faults such as overheating, overvoltage, gas leakage, and short circuits. These issues can lead to critical situations including thermal runaway, fire hazards, and even explosions, posing serious risks to both passengers and vehicle components. Conventional battery management systems (BMS) primarily focus on monitoring and alerting mechanisms but often lack the ability to take immediate physical action during extreme fault conditions. To address this limitation, this paper presents a Smart Battery Ejection System designed to enhance safety by integrating real-time monitoring with an automatic and proactive safety mechanism. The proposed system employs multiple sensors, including temperature, gas, voltage, and current sensors, to continuously monitor the health and operating conditions of the battery. These sensors provide real-time data to an Arduino-based microcontroller, which acts as the central processing unit of the system.
