Prossmic reinstatement: The sculpted hardware for facial reconstruction

Objectives: To introduce a novel titanium foam-based reconstruction modality for comprehensive facial skeletal and functional rehabilitation. Methods: A biomimetic titanium foam system was designed using Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology for patient-specific reconstruction. The concept was evaluated through three phases: finite element analysis, in vitro testing, and animal trials. The design incorporates vented slots to support prosthetic odontogenic rehabilitation. Results: Titanium foam demonstrated improved biomechanical compatibility, enhanced osseointegration, and uniform force distribution. The structural design showed superior resemblance to native mandibular architecture compared to conventional titanium rods and bone grafts. Conclusions: Titanium foam-based reconstruction offers a promising advancement in facial rehabilitation by addressing limitations of traditional methods and enabling combined skeletal and stomatognathic restoration with improved functional outcomes.
