Recent advances in iodine(III) reagents promoted fluoroalkylation/alkenylation reactions

<p indent="0mm">Hypervalent iodine(III) reagents (HIRs) have become highly promising tools in fluorine-containing functionalization reactions due to their unique reactivity and tunable structures. This review systematically summarizes recent advances (2020–2025) in HIR-promoted fluoroalkylation/alkenylation reactions, focusing on the design, synthesis, and applications of stoichiometric fluorinated HIRs. Radical fluoroalkylation reagents/reactions developed by using HIRs with fluoroalcohols and fluorocarboxylic acids as precursors are also summarized. Both radical and electrophilic reaction modes are covered, highlighting the advantages of HIRs in achieving high selectivity, mild conditions, and late-stage modification of complex molecules. Finally, the review concludes with a summary and outlook on this field, aiming to provide insights for the precise synthesis of fluorinated functional molecules.
