EndoCator: Real-time quantitative monitoring of microbial load in root canals

Objectives: To evaluate microbial load in root canals using EndoCator ATP testing during endodontic therapy following various irrigation protocols. Methods: Patients diagnosed according to AAE criteria were included. ATP values were recorded before and after irrigation using manual, sonic, ultrasonic, heated NaOCl, and laser-assisted irrigation protocols. Samples were collected using standardized aspiration techniques. Results: Higher ATP values were observed in necrotic teeth with periapical lesions. Overall microbial load reduced after instrumentation and irrigation, though variability existed among individual cases. Conclusions: EndoCator ATP testing provides a reliable chairside method for real-time assessment of microbial reduction during root canal therapy.
