Digital technologies applied to improve personal self-care and strengthen comprehensive community health

The limited use of digital technologies in community education hinders the strengthening of self-care practices and health promotion, despite the growing access to mobile devices and digital tools among the population. The objective of the study was to analyze the impact of digital technologies on strengthening personal self-care and community integral health. A quantitative pre-experimental study with a pretest–posttest design was conducted with 50 adults from a rural community in Quevedo. A digital educational program was implemented for six weeks, and changes in self-care practices were assessed using a validated questionnaire and statistical analysis. The results showed increases in self-care scores after the digital intervention. Improvements were observed in hygiene, healthy eating, physical activity, and disease prevention, with statistically significant differences between pretest and posttest. Digital technologies strengthen self-care and community health promotion, providing evidence of their usefulness as accessible educational tools to improve preventive practices and support health education programs.
