Herramienta para evaluar la respuesta institucional de las organizaciones deportivas a los deportistas ante eventos críticos. Una validación de contenido

In critical events, such as pandemics, armed conflicts, or climatic events, professional athletes often modify their usual training practices and/or their competition schedules face uncertainty regarding their rescheduling. Sports institutions are expected to provide different support to athletes in such circumstances; however, this response varies in intensity and effectiveness, to the point that several athletes become demoralized due to the lack of timely institutional support. The objective of this study is to propose a valid instrument to analyze the response of sports institutions to this type of event from the athletes’ perspective. A questionnaire with 15 questions was designed and administered to professional athletes in order to capture their perceptions of how their organizations react to particular adverse events. Content validation was conducted with the participation of 14 experts using Aiken’s V statistic, which reflects the degree of consensus regarding the items that compose the instrument. All items show average values above 0.8 and lower values of the 95% confidence interval greater than 0.7, providing content validity to the proposed instrument. The response that institutionalized sports activity provides in the face of critical events can be systematized through an easy-to-apply tool.
