Transformations of environmental diplomacy in Iraq after 2003: strategies and initiatives

This paper examines environmental concerns and how they have affected the Iraqi diplomatic system including diplomatic officials and internal laws and regulations on how they can address these consolidated matters in the post-2003 period in improving the efficiency of environmental risk management systems. Because environmental issues have become among the most serious concerns in local, regional and global forums since the last quarter of the twentieth century, environmental challenges, and in particular the issue of climate change, have become a threat to the entire world, including Iraq. At the same time, these challenges exert intense pressure on domestic and international laws and require the creation of new legal theories and methods to stand up to environmental pollution. It is important to describe the characteristics of environmental diplomacy in Iraq and its relationship to these problems. The paper emphasizes the importance of the role that environmental diplomacy can play in Iraq, stressing the necessity of international cooperation and environmental agreements to improve and develop national and international activities in this field. The paper explains that through peaceful diplomacy Iraq is making great strides in managing risks associated with the environment, which also contributes to national security, water and food security. Clauses such as international agreements and cooperation play a vital role in strengthening Iraq's diplomacy in environmental planning and management because this country attends international conferences and signs international treaties in environmental planning and management in order to improve its performance
