Chemically Passivated Polymeric Charge Recombination Layer for Efficient Tandem Organic Solar Cells (Adv. Energy Mater. 12/2026)
Tandem Organic Solar Cells Spontaneous in-situ protonation of amine-rich polyelectrolytes on PEDOT:PSS drives ionic self-assembly into an aligned dipole layer, lowering the work function while chemically quenching amine reactivity. The resulting polymeric charge recombination layer facilitates tunnelling-dominated ohmic recombination with a near-zero/negative effective barrier height, enabling tandem organic solar cells with record-high efficiency and exceptional stability.
