Electrochemical Studies On The Corrosion Behavior Of Orthodontic Wire Made Of Ni Cr Alloy In Artificial Saliva In The Presence Of Clove Powder
This study investigates the electrochemical corrosion behaviour of orthodontic wire made of nickel-chromium (Ni–Cr) alloy in artificial saliva (AS) with a specific focus on the effect of clove powder. Electrochemical techniques including potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance spectroscopy were employed to assess the corrosion resistance of the alloy in the absence and presence of clove powder. This investigation was carried out using polarization studies and AC impedance spectroscopy. Corrosion parameters, including corrosion potential (Ecorr), linear polarization resistance (LPR), and corrosion current (icorr) were obtained from the polarization measurements. Meanwhile, charge transfer resistance (Rt) and double layer capacitance (Cdl) were derived from the AC impedance spectra. The effect of clove powder on the corrosion resistance of Ni-Cr in artificial saliva was also examined and the corresponding corrosion parameters were compared.
