Bridging Practice and Theory: Strengthening the ITB Role with Lean Construction Principles
This paper examines how principles from Lean Construction, specifically the concept of reliable promises, can inform and enhance the role of the Integrated Technical Building Installations (ITB) coordinator in Norwegian construction projects. Using a conceptual approach, the study connects ideas from the Last Planner System to the practical demands of the ITB role. By aligning core elements of reliable promises with the responsibilities of the ITB coordinator, the paper identifies both shared principles and current limitations. The findings suggest opportunities for developing tools that improve communication through visualization and more effective communication channels, supporting the systematic integration of reliable promises within the ITB role.
