The Effect of the Ketogenic Diet on Anthropometric Outcomes, Glycemic Control, and Lipid Profile in Adult Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that typically affects women during their reproductive years. Diet can play a role in managing PCOS symptoms and improving clinical outcomes. This literature review evaluates the evidence regarding the effectiveness of the ketogenic diet (KD) on clinical outcomes in adult women with PCOS. Findings from 5 studies support that following a KD can result in statistically significant and clinically relevant improvements in anthropometric measures, lipid profile, and glycemic control in women with PCOS.
