Stationary Current and Shot-Noise Power Spectrum for Quantum Transport through a Double Quantum Dot System

We study quantum transport in a system of two coupled quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime. Simple analytical expressions for the stationary current and shot noise power spectral density are derived for various limiting cases. When the coupling between the quantum dots and the contacts is weak, the spectral density exhibits a distinct minimum at the tunnel-splitting frequency. Detuning reduces the depth of this minimum, as well as that of the zero-frequency minimum. The derived expressions may be useful for examining double quantum dot systems, tuning gate voltages, and creating quantum sensors.

Abstract

We study quantum transport in a system of two coupled quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime. Simple analytical expressions for the stationary current and shot noise power spectral density are derived for various limiting cases. When the coupling between the quantum dots and the contacts is weak, the spectral density exhibits a distinct minimum at the tunnel-splitting frequency. Detuning reduces the depth of this minimum, as well as that of the zero-frequency minimum. The derived expressions may be useful for examining double quantum dot systems, tuning gate voltages, and creating quantum sensors.
