Energy Neutral Production – A Modelling Approach of the Energy Consumption in Production

This paper presents a multi-layered approach and initial results to modelling, simulating and optimising energy consumption in production. The overall goal is to enable system optimisation for a wide range of manufacturing technologies and thus create the basis for future modelling of entire process chains. To achieve this goal, interpretable white box models, hybrid models (based on both data and physical laws) as well as skill-based modelling are combined. For data acquisition a mobile and flexible measuring device was developed as part of the work presented. This can be used to record, visualise and analyse energy measurement data from machine control systems and external consumers. The functionality of the measuring device has been successfully demonstrated in test measurements on a plastic 3D printer and a machining centre. The preliminary data recorded during these tests provide a first insight into the energy profiles of selected production technologies and serve as a foundation for further model development in the field of energy-neutral production.
